Hey guys, I was looking at some dkc unused sprites and saw diddy and dixie's mourning sprites and I was wondering what people think might be the reason why these were made, perhaps DK was meant to die, come up with an explaination that you think makes sense.

if I recall correctly, someone uncovered an alternate Stronghold Showdown sequence where Kaptain K. Rool tortures D.K. by hitting D.K. with his blunderbuss. There was a YouTube video of it, but I don't remember the link.

Anyway, there's a possibility that the animations were intended for this scene. Instead of running for the exit at the right, the Kongs would slowly trudge out, troubled by what they've seen.

EDIT: Apparently I had a memory lapse and forgot that sequence only appears the first time you enter K. Rool Duel.

I've seen more than one video with this sequence in it. K. Rool also shoots DK a few times, then shoots a red cannonball onto the floor.

Aw. I've seen the sprites and that's just so sad :C Just breaks my heart, you know.... but it's kind of silly they got removed. I love emotional parts in games or movies or what not... makes me feel for the characters. Makes it more than just a game. I mean seriously just d'awwww D8

Really makes me wonder what Rare was going to use them for... maybe someone can mail to scribes to ask, on their site?

My own theory is that they thought DK was supposedly dead... or something.

It'll really suck if DK actually died in his own series, seems a bit too depressing if you ask me D:

Sorry for the bump but that whole thing about the alternate sequence is just a hack, which tries to put K. Rool Duel in Stronghold Showdown. The real use of the sprites may have been if you failed a bonus round much like how the first game had one of DK facepalming himself and Diddy stomping his hat.

Not to mention that the sprites are gone since that one video of them is missing.
