It's been a little while since I've updated on my brother, for any of you guys that have been following. This update isn't really about how he's doing or anything, but I still feel that it's worth sharing.

For this ceramics project, we're making a project of "something you hate/something you want to go away," so I'm doing my brother's addiction. It was difficult to think of a way to personify it into a sculpture, but I've come up with an idea. What I'm doing is a monster holding a brain in one hand, and a crack pipe in the other. The monster has his ribs showing, and I'm going to put various scars on his body. I'm also going to put various drug paraphernalia around him, making it more recognizable that it has to deal with drug addiction.

Now, my brother doesn't know about this project, and I've decided that when it's finished, or if it's finished before Christmas (have to wait for it to dry and use coloured slips, fire it, glaze it, and fire it again... so it's a bit of a process), give it to him as a Christmas gift. When I'm finished with it, I'll post a picture in the non-dkc related artwork thread, so you guys can see it, too.

It's been difficult because I've been looking up pictures of drug addicts before and after, and I'm currently watching a documentary on crack... this is really hard on me, and I'm probably going to have to take a lot of breaks... but I definitely want my emotions to show through in the artwork. I want Steve to see my sorrow, anger, frustration, and depression (depression about his addiction, not like an all-around depression, so you don't have to be concerned about me) in this piece. I hope that it shows him my feelings and I sincerely hope that it can help... which sounds silly... but... I dunno.... it's hard to explain... I just hope that it helps him in any way that a sculpture could.

I've been thinking a bit about age.

It's funny; I'm 21 now and I started going on forums at the age of 12/13. Heck, even when I joined here at age 16 I felt a bit young compared to many forum members. Now though... it seems like a good 80% of all forum-goers are younger than me. I don't even know what happened


Speaking of age, my 100-year-old great-grandfather passed away last night. We all saw it coming (he's been sick and somewhat unresponsive for the last few weeks) but it's still sad nonetheless. What's important is that he lived a long, good life.

If the paint program on your computer has a resize button, click that and pic any number under a hundred that you would like it to go to. That is the percentage of the original picture's size it would shrink to.

Well, I just recently remembered this board, so I decided to come back on here. What's changed since I was last on here, back when DKCR came out? And if none of you recognize me, then this will be even more awkward. So yeah.

I've had this idea for a new Kong that I'd like to attempt to make in Sculptris. I really need to get back to making those custom enemies... I really wish I could just make them out of clay... which, ideally I could do, but I'm so bad with digital art that isn't Photoshop. I'm really going to try to do this better and watch bunches of tutorials.

But this idea for a Kong that I have, I've always wanted to have a tomboy, rather than the stereotypical girlie-girls. I thought it would be cool for her to be a monkey, similar to Diddy. I even thought of a special ability. She should pick up barrels with her tail (thereby holding the barrel above her, because she'll walk on all fours), and then, she has her arms free, so she could be able to swing on and climb up ropes, all while carrying a barrel. I thought that would be a cool ability for a Kong.

I've also wondered why there are no female gorillas in the DK games... at all... I thought a good idea for a character would be a female gorilla that loves DK and is jealous of Candy.
