I'm back from scout camping.
After 10 days not visiting the forum, I needed some time to read all the new posts.

I like having long hair, but my parents keep making me get it cut. And every time I get it cut something goes wrong.

Meh, the heat doesn't really bother me. When I get a haircut, my ears feel so cold because they fon't have their usual blanket of brown hair.

We're at about that point right now. But it also rains almost everyday and we get a lot of wind at that time, so maybe that's it.

You put a sad face on the end of that? Hurricanes aren't good things...Katrina almost wiped out everything I ever cared about.

Don't forget Gilbert in the late 80's. From what I've seen in TV, it demolished a whole bridge in the Santa Catarina River in Nuevo León, and killed like 300 people

All we got was some wind from Katrina, but Rita was what hit us. It threw our trampoline onto the neighbors fence and ripped a piece of the side of our house off. We had no power for like 3 days after the hurricane had gone.

It wasn't Katrina's fault that all that crap happened in New Orleans. Katrina didn't cause much damage actually, it's just that it broke the levees (which were all built shoddy and the government knew it), and the whole place flooded. Any amount of stress on those levees could've done the same thing, the whole system was just begging for disaster.

Katrina didn't cause most of the damage, it was the broken levees which caused the flood.

I see what you mean though, the damage wouldn't have been as bad if the levees hadn't broke and let the water in all at once.

Yeah, it was Katrina who broke the levees, but had the levees been even remotely stable in the first place than all of that mess wouldn't have been nearly as bad. Because it was the flooding from the levees that caused most of the damage.

That's true, but Katrina caused the levees to break. Sure, we had crappy levees, but they would have kept on going if Katrina hadn't came.

It could have been anything that broke those levees. People just had to wait for a hurricane to realize it. The entire situation was a deathtrap, and it could've been avoided.

If anyone's been wondering why I haven't been online today, it's because the SP3 Windows Update unexpectedly failed during installation, which bricked my internet connection. After much difficulty I resorted to using my other computer to download it to a CD and then re-installed SP3 from there.

But now, my sweet custom Windows theme is broken because it updated the UXTHEME.DLL file. Now I have to fix that, ugh...

Kiddy, the only Olympic games thread we would start would probably be Mario and Sonic at the Olympic Games.

Maybe if they had a video game event......

That gives me another idea: There should be a video game Olympics held every few years with events in all the most popular games of the time.

Well, each event (game) would be chosen by a committee. They would choose games that are popular, have a multiplayer section that is right for all the people to play, and take almost entirely skill, nothing too random.
